Bless the Lord

Scripture:  Psalm 103:1-5

Greetings “Fan”-tastic Passengers,

Psalm 103 is an excellent Psalm of praise, in which the psalmist stirs up all that is within him, to praise God for all His benefits to him.  Today, we too, should be encouraged by the example of the psalmist and join in, and with every breath that we take, bless His holy name.

Whenever someone happens to repeat themselves three times with some valid instructions to you, then that means, whatever is being said, must be of utmost importance and not to be soon forgotten. Three times the psalmist says, “Bless, bless, bless.” Come, my Heart, wake up, like a champion, awake everything that is within me, especially my memory and “Forget not all His benefits” (vv.1-2).

What benefits?

Well, the benefit which tops the psalmist list is that of having his sins forgiven by the Lord.  God has pardoned not some but all his iniquities and for this his heart is most thankful.   By forgiving all the iniquities of the sinner, God has restored him/her to the favour of God, which bestows good things on us.  Moreover, “He forgiveth all my iniquities” denotes that it is a continued act.  God is merciful and He is still forgiving, us of our sins, as we are still sinning and repenting before Him. The psalmist has felt the weight of his sin lifted from off his shoulder.  Therefore, he will praise God and leap for joy at the thought of the forgiveness of all his iniquities.

Not only that, but the Lord has also ho healed all his diseases. For some of us, we can testify that, He has restored us from the bed of sickness and extreme pain and so He is worthy of all praise.  God heals and continue to heal our spiritual diseases.  As He sanctifies our lives, for example, it may be that He gives the bitter medicine, but it is that, it works best in healing all our diseases.  Bless the Lord oh my soul!

We can never thank and praise God enough, for reclaiming our lives from the pit of sin, where there is no water.  Whenever a pit has no water in it, this means that there is no hope of the individual surviving it dehydrated climate.  If there were some water in it, at least they could take a sip and quench their thirst.  However, since there is no water in this pit, then it is only a matter of time, when, fatality which is slow and painful will prevail.  This was our pitiful situation, before we were redeemed from destruction, by God’s Son Jesus Christ. We were sinful, hopeless, in despair and ready to die, when in the fullness of time, God the Father, in His love for humanity, speared not His Only Begotten Son Jesus “For He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (2 Cor.5:21).  Just think about it, Can we ever praise God enough for our redemption from a doom which was so great, such that it is called destruction?

I love this part.  After He has redeemed our lives from destruction, He then puts a crown, a halo of love, if you please, about our heads.  This crown is invisible to the natural eyes but not to the spiritual eyes of Grace and gratitude.  Glory to God!  It is a bright, shining crown, all decorated with the stunning gems of His loving kindness and tender mercies.  No earthly crown can compare to this crown of God’s divine love for His children.  Glory!

Consequently, the Lord has made the life of His children, who were once sad and heavy under the burden of sin, now to be glad.  There is no more, risk of fatality, due to lack of water because, His children have drunk of the water which He gave them and deep inside their heart is now a, “well of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:14). My good Lord! What a mercy it is to be so satisfied, by this water of life, so as to get young again.  It makes you to feel your spiritual youth rejuvenating.  It is indeed, a miracle of God, to be young in heart even if you are old in body as, “your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

Today, if God has rescued you from the pit of sin where there is no water, I encourage you to, “Bless the Lord” always for all His benefits to you.

However, if you are still in the pit of sin, feeling hopeless, thirsty, confused because there is no way out and ready to die, call on Jesus Christ, who will come and redeem your life from destruction. He will give you the water of life to drink, freely (Rev.22:17). There are many wells and cisterns from which you can drink in life but the sad news is that, they are broken.  In any case, why do you keep on spending your money on things which cannot satisfy the hunger and thirst of your soul? The Lord invites you that thirst to:  “…come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price (Isa.55:1).  The one who will come and drink freely of this water, which Jesus will give to him/her, Jesus says:  “…shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life (John 4:14).
Come on!  Take a sip, and “Bless the Lord!”  It is FREE!
Stay strong!  Stay encouraged!
