Greetings “Fan”-tastic Passengers,
According to one of Canada’s renowned, Provincial, Department of Education and Training, Apprenticeship training is defined as structured vocational skill training, in a given job, which is delivered, through a combination of classroom instruction, as well as on the job training. Consequently, persons who are at the required age, at least 16 years old, in most jurisdictions, can register as apprentices, to become engaged in learning a recognized skilled trade, where training is combined with properly coordinated studies of related technical and supplementary subjects, as well as an actual work experience component, under the keen supervision of a journeyperson. Some of the most notable skilled trades, among many others, for example, include electrician, motorcycle mechanic and auto mechanic. In a similar manner, in the spiritual arena, within the body of Christ, there is organized training available to all believers, which is specific to their gifts and calling. This unique training is designed by the Lord, and delivered by the Holy Spirit, to believers, in order for them to grow, from a newborn babe in Christ and mature to a full age, or a journeyperson in the Lord. Subsequently, as the believer becomes a dedicated student of the Word and skillful in the Word of righteousness, under the training and watchful eyes of the Lord, they will become thoroughly equipped for the work of the ministry, and, therefore, be able to function according to God’s plan and purposes, in His Kingdom.
The psalmist David, in Psalm 32:8 gives us a look into God’s apprenticeship training program, as he said of the Lord, that: “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”
Even though you are saved, you are still a babe, in the Kingdom of God, and one who is unfamiliar with the great truths in His Word and, therefore, need His instruction, in order to help you find your way in righteousness. In addition, your knowledge of divine things is very limited at this stage of your growth. As a matter of fact, you know only a little about yourself, the dangers that awaits you, and of God’s holiness, as a new believer in Christ. Nonetheless, the Lord has promised to take you for his apprentice, where He himself will be your instructor. Therefore, in God’s apprenticeship training program, as your Instructor, He is equipped to give you an inward understanding of spiritual things, which is effectual in building up the mind, in the most holy faith. Consequently, the psalmist in Psalm 119:104 said: " Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way."
As you receive God’s instructions in righteousness, He begins to simultaneously, teach you what to do and how to do Kingdom business, effectively for His glory. For example, in Genesis 49:23-24 Joseph’s bow, “abode in strength,” as he yielded it to the Lord, who taught him how and when to use it in righteousness, in order to prevent catastrophic disaster of brokenness from happening among humanity, especially among family members. According to Matthew 5:16, The Lord, as the greatest Teacher who lives, is very proud of you, and whenever you mature and go in His name, to deliver Kingdom business, He wants you to: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” His style of teaching, however, is mostly applied, because He has promised to: “…teach thee in the way which thou shalt go…" Therefore, as you grow in your spiritual journey with Him, God adds the precept to the doctrine, and instructs you in both. Subsequently, by His teaching that is practical, God will apprentice you, as He teaches you the art and mystery of holiness. He will intern you to the Lord Jesus as the Master of Righteousness. Ultimately, one of these days, as the Apostle Paul said in 2 Timothy 2:15b, He will make you a mature and approved journeyperson "… a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
In God’s vocational school of grace and holiness, He promises not only to provide His apprentice with sacred, doctrinal and practical instruction; but also to fellowship with them; even as the Word of God says, "I will guide thee with mine eye." Furthermore, according to John 10:27-28 Jesus is the Good Shepherd, your Coordinator and Facilitator, of your program of life, who, in the eternal plan of God, gives everlasting life to His sheep. The sheep, therefore, hears His voice, that is, the sheep gives rapt attention to his guidance and closely follows His coaching: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” In the book of Revelation 14:4 God gives a brief presentation, of a group of holy apprentices, in heaven, who are in endless fellowship with the Lord. It is said of them that: “… These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. ”
Friends, humanity is privileged, indeed, to be granted such a favourable opportunity, where they can freely enrol in God’s apprenticeship training program. Once, according to 1 Peter 2:25 we were all: “…as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.” In His splendid training program, Jesus Christ, who is the Good Shepherd and Bishop of your souls, not only instructs and teaches you; but He also guides and accompanies you, along life’s journey, as your teacher and friend. His teaching is a continuous and is one where you will never be dismissed from the class, even if you are slow of learning. Instead, God is patient and faithful, with your heart. Therefore, He will continue to instruct, teach and guide you, in righteous and holiness, until He has perfected you in the knowledge of himself and conform you to the image of his dear Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
