He is a Miracle Working God

Scripture: 2 Kings 7:19–20

Greetings ‘Fan’-tastic Passengers,

For many individuals, it sounds like music to the ear, to perceive the phrase that, “God is a miracle working God.”  However, in some instances, when it comes to believing God, that there will be a miraculous performance of things, according to His Word, doubt arises in the heart. Notwithstanding, doubt may arise but you should never give it any life by believing it because with God, all things are possible when you believe.

Scripture tells us in 2 Kings 7:19-20, that there was a great famine in the land, which had taken its toll on the people of Israel.  Simultaneously, the city of Samaria was also under siege by the Aramean army. As a result, the king of Israel consulted the prophet Elisha the prophet, who predicted that within twenty hours, God would rain an abundance of food for His people and the reality of the famine would be a thing of the past, in the minds of the people.

While this was encouraging and uplifting news to the heart of many of the people, there was one of the king’s officers who did not believe God’s promise, of eradicating the famine and blessing His people with food.

Consequently, later that day, there were four lepers who had been banished from Samaria, due to their unclean state, who had decided to surrender to the Arameans. However, when they reached the Aramean camp they were shocked to find it completely deserted. God had made a miracle happen. He caused the Arameans to hear what they thought was a large army approaching them for attack. Believing that they were about to suffer a crushing defeat, the Arameans fled, taking nothing with them and leaving behind an abundance of food, supplies, and treasures.

God used the same unclean lepers, to bring news of their discovery to Samaria. At first the people were skeptical. Could it be possible? Could the mighty Aramean army have disappeared without a fight? Could there really be an abundance of food waiting for them? Could their entire reality be turned over in a matter of hours?

Therefore, the king decided to send a few men to check the camp first to see if it was really a death trap. When the camp was declared safe, all the hungry people, literally burst out of the city and ran to the treasures that God had stored for them. As for that disbelieving officer who had questioned the possibility of such a miracle, it so happened that he had been stationed at the city gate and was trampled to death by the people as they rushed out of the city. Elisha’s words had come true: the officer had seen the miracle, but he was not able to partake in it.

I encourage you today, to remember that, your God is a miracle working God and with Him, nothing is impossible.  He is able to work things out for you, in ways that you would never imagine possible, in order to confirm His blessing to your heart. Faith births miracles but we must never allow doubt to prevent us from partaking in the performance of those things which God has promised and prepared for those who love Him. Have faith today, in your God of mighty miracles.

Stay strong!  Stay encouraged!
