There has always been a burning desire in Joy’s heart for giving to others, while expecting nothing in return. Consequently, Joy’s vision for charity came very real to her heart one night as she was in her bed meditating. There was a burning concern in her heart regarding little children from all walks of life who do not have anyone to give them a hug or to say good night before they would go to bed. Joy began to pour her heart out to the Lord, as He ministered to her and as she also felt the pain, loneliness that children such as these would experience.

The following morning as she went to work, she asked one of her co-workers, who is also from Jamaica, if she was aware of any children’s orphanage in Jamaica. The friend was so gracious to advise her of the Maxfield Park Children’s Home in Kingston, Jamaica. Joy’s quest on the Internet to find a contact for the home then lead her to the Chairman of the Maxfield Park Children’s Home. Maxfield Park Children's Home is the oldest and largest in Kingston, Jamaica. It was established in September 1918, and serves as a place of safety, as well as a permanent dwelling for children from birth to age 18, who have been abandoned or otherwise made homeless.

Consequently, it is to no ones surprise, that Joy tries to live God's word by regularly supporting the Maxfield Park Children’s Home in Jamaica through monetary means and donations of food, clothing, and educational materials. In addition, Joy is also actively involved with other missions in Ghana, West Africa, also known as Project Africa

Joy’s Ghana, West Africa mission started when one day she was made aware by a friend in Ghana, of a four year old girl’s illness that almost caused her death. Joy was moved! She then decided to cut back on her own grocery money, in order to send some money for the mother of the little girl to take her to the doctor for proper medical attention. Thankfully, after obtaining medical attention, the girl’s health and well-being dramatically improved. To date, Joy often speaks with the little girl on the phone and regularly sends monetary, as well as school supplies, clothing and toys for her and many other children in the local village.

Joy also connects with Teen Challenge Greater Toronto Area Women's Centre in Toronto, Canada.

Many thanks to all those who have throughout the years generously donated to the causes of Maxfield Park Children’s Home and the Ghana, West Africa missions.

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38 (KJV)
